As Thou Lovest Me

I wrote this song close to the time of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh, PA. I was impressed that the doctors and nurses who treated the shooter, who was still spouting hate at them, were Jewish.

To be able to love our friends is easy, but Jesus Christ implores us to love, to pray for, and to forgive our enemies.

Being His includes being one with those He loves, and that includes all. We need His help to be able to love with that kind of inclusive love.

Especially in this moment of Black Lives Matter, I want to say with my whole heart that Black lives matter to Jesus and, as we strive to follow Him, they must matter to us, too.
