Somewhere in the Middle

Hi there! My name is Deanna Lasker. You might know me well or perhaps we’ve never met. Or perhaps we’ve never met like this. However long we’ve known each other and however well, I’m glad you’re here.

This has been a strange and clumsy experience.

I know some things about some things.

I am not an expert, or even mildly proficient in things that are helpful when one begins filming original music or videos about gospel insights. I don’t know much about editing.

I know a little more about music production, but not a lot about that either. I’m learning as I go.

I am doing this because I am passionate about a couple of things and feel like it’s time to share.

Ever been here? Somewhere in the middle? Not like you pictured yourself at the “jumping off place?”

However I pictured myself, I’m here right now. Exactly how I am… my silver hair is half-grown out (yes, on purpose) and just as goofy and awkward as ever.

It reminds me of being on the Li.st app (lots of writing and creative types, with some famous people and “blue checks”) and participating in the “describe your account in 6 words” trend. Mine was “Not a tastemaker. More a cheerleader.” That is perfectly true here, too.

I don’t pretend to be an influencer. I don’t expect that people will want to be like me. I’m fine with that.

I would like to be someone that reflects light and helps them when they find themselves at the “jumping off place” to be brave. A cheerleader.

I hope, if you find yourself here because one of my songs resonated, that you’ll come back and see if any of my other songs or thoughts resonate.

I am sharing here—I jumped off—for that very purpose, to share words and music (see what I did there) that point us to the light, even if I’m somewhere in the middle.
